Designed for a brief to develop a theatre in the contentious Toronto Port Lands, the Waterfront Theatre borrows heavily from vernacular Canadian industry and notions of behind-the-scenes. The theatre brutally applies concrete, masonry, timber, and corrugated metal in a close examination of highly generic tectonic patterns.

We choose to expand the scope of our intervention, re-imagining the western shore of the Port Lands as a new campus of the University of Toronto, built on land accumulated by sand engines.
