We shot a 16th century period piece with a shoestring budget. The trick: careful shot planning, strategic lighting, and some production design genius.

Appalachia was shot over the course of 3 days in Toronto and just outside of Hamilton. The tavern seen in the beginning of the film (and pictured here) was actually a massive barn inside of Black Creek Pioneer Village; it took some planned-out blocking to hide the fact that there were stalls for horses just outside of the shot.

The film is still in the festival circuit, so it's not available online. Yet. Here's some stills for now!

Shot on the Red Epic Dragon and Sony FS7.
